Canogar Rafael is certainly an icon of contemporary art not only in Spain, not only in Europe, but worldwide; there is in fact a profound evolutionary coincidence with a particular moment in American art that has marked the recent history of art. Canogar`s experience starts from afar, from that "el paso" group of which he was a leading exponent and which is unanimously considered the most important artistic movement in post-war Spain; despite the great success he has found the strength to reinvent himself, to go further, to live with his informal soul, finding a new way to figuration. From the moment Canogar discovered the possibilities of graphic work in the early 1960s, his work doubled, giving life to an excellent graphic production over the years.
